Getting To Know The Brand

L’Escargot, the oldest French restaurant in London, is housed in a magnificent Georgian townhouse dating from 1741.

In 1998, Jimmy Lahoud and Chef Marco Pierre White took over the reigns, during their time L’Escargot was voted Best French Restaurant in London and Best Restaurant in Soho, a reputation it retains to this day.

Today the Head Chef is James Tyrrell who trained at Langan’s Brasserie with the great Richard Shepherd, and at Claridge’s Hotel. L’Escargot has been host to many celebrities including Coco Chanel, General de Gaulle, Elton John, Sam Smith, Dame Judy Dench, Shirley Bassey, Petula Clark, HRH Princess Margaret, and was a favourite restaurant of Princess Diana.

THE CHALLENGE

As the oldest French restaurant in London, L’Escargot by no means lacks prestige or credibility.

Tasked with fortifying L’Escargot’s digital presence, CEEK took on this responsibility while also maintaining the restaurant’s esteemed reputation and rich heritage.

THE CEEK APPROACH

CEEK deployed an omni-channel strategy including social media, SEO and paid advertising to engage new and repeat customers at every stage of their digital journey.

CEEK’s organic social media approach included refreshing L’Escargot’s content creation to highlight every detail of the L’Escargot experience. From indulging viewers in L’Escargot’s menu items to exploring the history of the artworks on the walls, CEEK brought L’Escargot through the screen to the user.

On the technical side, the CEEK SEO team led L’Escargot’s site migration. This included optimising the site’s landing pages with on-page optimisation. From there, the CEEK SEO team worked to rank for keywords and supplemented these rankings with paid media.

THE RESULTS

After joining forces with CEEK, L’Escargot rightfully achieved the #1 ranking for “oldest French restaurant” and the #1 map pack ranking for “best French restaurant London” and “French restaurant London”.

In less than six months, CEEK’s Google ads campaign supplementing its SEO work reached over 500,000 impressions. Additionally, L’Escargot’s social media channels saw a steady increase in profile visits and engagement, gaining 5,000 followers and reaching tens of thousands of users globally.
